Basketball Recap: Orem Comes Up Short

Orem lost against Provo back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Orem Tigers lost 54-29 to the Provo Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 26th).

Provo found their leader in freshman Sage Yenchik, who went 5 of 12 en route to 21 points and eight steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Yenchik has scored all season. Sutton Villa was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Orem's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Provo, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orem has already played their next matchup (against Timpanogos), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Provo will welcome Mountain View at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Provo is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.2 points per game this season.
