Baseball Recap: Madawaska Has No Trouble Against Central Aroostook

After only one run in their last match, Madawaska made sure to put some runs up on the board against Central Aroostook on Tuesday. The Owls were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Panthers. The Owls haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Matt Ayotte and Isaac Beaulieu made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Ayotte struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Beaulieu tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those ten strikeouts gave Ayotte a new career-high. At bat, Ayotte went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Beaulieu got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josh Querze, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with six stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carter Guerrette, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Madawaska always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central Aroostook only posted an OBP of .292.

The win got Madawaska back to even at 1-1. As for Central Aroostook, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
