Football Preview: Colleton County Cougars vs. Lower Richland Diamond Hornets

The Colleton County Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Lower Richland Diamond Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Colleton County is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They lost to Woodland at home by a 32-14 margin.

The losing side was boosted by Cameron Greyson, who rushed for 123 yards on only 12 carries.

Meanwhile, Lower Richland didn't have done well against Spring Valley recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Lower Richland simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Spring Valley 41-7 on the road.

Christian 'Freight Train' Wilson went supernova for Lower Richland, rushing for 169 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Another reason for the win was Lower Richland's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Sergino Samuels was especially locked on to Spring Valley's QB and sacked him twice. Samuels' also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up two sacks, forcing a fumble, and making two total tackles which he returned for a touchdown. Lower Richland got some further help from Daniel Gee: he made 11 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Colleton County's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Lower Richland, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-1.
