Recap: McCamey Badgers vs. Compass Academy
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Balmorhea, the McCamey Badgers were happy to have found some success on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Compass Academy and snuck past 31-29. That's another feather in the cap for McCamey, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Despite the loss, Compass Academy saw an underclassman step up: Peyton Stewart scored 14 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Stewart scored a full 48.3% of Compass Academy's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Anahi Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring 5 points along with 6 rebounds and 6 steals.
McCamey's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Compass Academy, the last time they won on the road was back two weeks ago. Having now lost three straight away contests, they've bumped their record down to 1-3.
McCamey will be playing in front of their home fans against Sonora at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Compass Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Colorado at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
