Soccer Game Preview: Burke vs. Lincoln Southwest

Burke is 0-3 against Lincoln Southwest since May of 2018 but things could change on Monday. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Silver Hawks at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Burke turned things around against Bryan on Saturday. While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was the Bulldogs who were credited with the victory. Burke got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to Bryan's two.

Burke will be up against a hot Lincoln Southwest team: the squad just extended their winning streak to seven. The Silver Hawks never let Lincoln High get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for Lincoln Southwest, who have now won nine games by three goals or more so far this season.

Their offense was hitting Lincoln High from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Mallory Arehart led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by herself.

Burke's victory bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Lincoln Southwest, they pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Burke might still be hurting after the 5-0 loss they got from Lincoln Southwest in their previous meeting back in April of 2022. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
