Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Classical

Classical lost to Middletown back in May of 2019, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Purple put the hurt on the Islanders with a sharp 16-8 win. The victory was nothing new for the Purple as they're now sitting on three straight.

Olivia Martins was incredible, getting four hits. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmy Tavares, who got three hits.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Classical kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Classical pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.0 runs over those games. As for Middletown, they moved to 8-8 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Classical will head out to challenge Davies Career & Tech at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Purple's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. Middletown has already played their next match (against Delcastle Technical), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
