Pearce won the last time they faced Nimitz and Kyler Lambert did his part to make sure it happened again. The Mustangs breezed past the Vikings to the tune of 69-34 on Thursday thanks in part to Lambert, who rushed for 114 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, and also threw for 190 yards and a pair of TDs on only 12 passes. Those rushing touchdowns marked the first that he has punched in this season.
Nimitz lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jevon Woolfolk, who rushed for 153 yards and two scores, and also picked up 33 receiving yards and one touchdown. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 110 rushing yards. Nimitz also got a significant boost from Jaylin Harris, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 151 yards.
Pearce has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to yards per carry: they averaged an imposing 8.95 yards per carry in those games compared to only 3.54 in the others. As for Nimitz, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.
