Basketball Game Preview: Fossil Ridge Panthers vs. Nolan Catholic Vikings

The Fossil Ridge Panthers and the Nolan Catholic Vikings will face off at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Fossil Ridge is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest loss since November 19th on Friday. They lost 73-50 to Weatherford. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 297th, while the Kangaroos are ranked 106th).

Nolan Catholic has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-48 heartbreaker at the hands of Weatherford.

Fossil Ridge's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-6. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Nolan Catholic, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5.

Fossil Ridge came up short against Nolan Catholic in their previous meeting back in December of 2017, falling 51-42. Can Fossil Ridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
