Baseball Game Preview: New Trier Trevians vs. Hoffman Estates Hawks

The New Trier Trevians will take on the Hoffman Estates Hawks at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

New Trier's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Joliet Catholic 1-0. Those one runs were actually the fewest the Trevians have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Not much got past Greg Campitelli, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Joliet Catholic off the board. Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Campitelli.

On the hitting side, Ben Toft was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one triple and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Hoffman Estates entered their tilt with Maine East on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Blue Demons. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hawks have posted since March 11, 2024.

Hoffman Estates' win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for New Trier, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2-1.
