Basketball Game Preview: Hurricane Tigers vs. Cedar Reds

Hurricane is 0-10 against Cedar since December of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Hurricane Tigers will face off against the Cedar Reds at 7:00 p.m. Hurricane knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Cedar likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Hurricane came up short against Crimson Cliffs and fell 80-68. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (61), the Tigers still had to take the loss.

Hurricane's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Calan Hughes, who went 10 of 11 on his way to 23 points and seven rebounds, and Brigham Kemp, who went 10 of 18 on his way to 25 points. The match was Kemp's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of RJ Hurst, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, Cedar was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a 48-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Snow Canyon.

Cedar's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Hurricane, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.

Hurricane might still be hurting after the 77-53 defeat they got from Cedar when the teams last played back in January of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Hurricane was down 40-13.
