Basketball Recap: Amherst Central Comes Up Short

Amherst Central has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 69-67 heartbreaker at the hands of the Williamsville South Billies. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (59), the Tigers still had to take the loss.

Amherst Central's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-2. As for Williamsville South, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Amherst Central and Williamsville South should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. Amherst Central will take on Pioneer at 7:00 p.m. on Monday up 364 places (44 vs. 408). Similarly, Williamsville South (ranked 97th) will meet Nichols (ranked 224th) at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday.
