Football Recap: Sinton Pirates vs. Wimberley Texans
Sinton and Wimberley squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Sinton had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Wimberley Texans by a score of 36-33. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Pirates, who until this contest were averaging 14.93 points allowed.
When it comes to explaining why Sinton lost, don't look at Triston Handson. Despite the final result, he threw for 254 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 49 yards and two touchdowns. Jacoby James was Handson's top target, picking up 195 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Cody Stoever was his usual excellent self, rushing for 146 yards and three touchdowns, while also throwing for 275 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per attempt for Wimberley. That's the most passing yards Stoever has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Nolan Waida, who picked up 159 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
