Flag Football Recap: Doherty Takes a Loss

If Doherty was feeling good fresh off their 20-0 takedown of Coronado on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Spartans and the Vista Ridge Wolves were almost perfectly matched up on Thursday, but the Spartans suffered a 7-6 loss. The Spartans gained 78 more yards on the day, but it was the Wolves that made the best use of them.

Nelah Thompson threw for 93 yards on seven of 17 attempts. Aubrey Smith was her top target, picking up 58 receiving yards. On the ground, Sontee Keys rushed for 75 yards and one TD on only seven carries.

Doherty's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4. As for Vista Ridge, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Doherty has already played their next matchup, a 26-6 win against Fountain-Fort Carson on the 29th. As for Vista Ridge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 26-6 victory against The Vanguard School on the 30th.
