Preview: Braswell Bengals vs. Prosper Eagles

The Braswell Bengals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Prosper Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Braswell has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Prosper will arrive with four straight wins.

Last Thursday, Braswell had to suffer through a rough 56-28 loss at the hands of Guyer. While losing is never fun, Braswell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 124th, while Guyer is ranked 19th).

Braswell's loss came about despite a quality game from Jeremiah Shipp, who rushed for 148 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Kahlil Davis also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.

Meanwhile, Prosper got themselves on the board against Boyd on Friday, but Boyd never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 47-0 victory over the Broncos at home. The result was nothing new for Prosper, who have now won three games by 36 points or more so far this season.

Nathan Tenbarge continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 147 yards and three touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes.

Braswell's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-5. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Guyer, Allen, and Byron Nelson. Prosper has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in six of their first seven matchups, giving them a 6-1 record.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Braswell has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 258.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Prosper struggles in that department as they've been even better at 274.7 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.

Braswell took a serious blow against Prosper in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 59-14. Will Braswell have more luck at home instead of on the road?
