The King George Foxes will face off against the Mechanicsville Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (King George has three straight victories, Mechanicsville has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, King George was able to grind out a solid win over James Monroe, taking the game 7-3.

Kelsea Minter made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those 15 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paige Headley, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kallie Slovack, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Mechanicsville's offense. They lost 11-0 to Atlee on Friday.
Mechanicsville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Baylor Hughes, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
King George's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Mechanicsville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
Mechanicsville's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. King George has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Mechanicsville, though, as they've been averaging only 2.3 strikeouts. Will King George keep running through batters, or will the Mustangs buck the trend?
Everything went King George's way against Mechanicsville in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, as King George made off with a 15-7 win. Do the Foxes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
