Recap: Scott Central Rebels vs. Kosciusko Whippets
On Thursday, things could have been worse for Scott Central, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 57-39 loss to Kosciusko. While losing is never fun, Scott Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while Kosciusko is ranked 39th).
Leading Kosciusko to victory were Jaybre Pierce and Andrew Mancell. Pierce scored 19 points, while Mancell dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Cory Guyton, who scored seven points along with six assists.
Scott Central now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Kosciusko, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Scott Central will finish 2023 at home by hosting Coffeeville at 1:50 p.m. on Friday. Kosciusko will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against McAdams at 7:30 p.m. on December 29th. McAdams will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
