Softball Game Preview: Hickory Grove Christian Lions vs. Concord Academy Eagles

For the second straight game, Hickory Grove Christian will face off against Concord Academy. The Lions will look to defend their home field on Monday against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Hickory Grove Christian is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

Hickory Grove Christian lost 13-7 to Concord Academy on Thursday.

For Concord Academy's part, Caisyn Berg was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Berg has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Nevaeh Carmean was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Milee Amburn was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Concord Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Hickory Grove Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Concord Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-7.
