Basketball Recap: Cam Flythe Key Part of a Team Effort in Raiders Win

Appomattox County hadn't done well against Altavista recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Appomattox County Raiders came out on top against the Altavista Colonels by a score of 64-53. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 65-57 back in December of 2024.

Appomattox County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cam Flythe led the charge by going 7 of 11 on his way to 21 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Flythe a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Riley Chandler, who posted ten points along with six assists and six boards.

With the victory, Appomattox County broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-6. As for Altavista, they dropped their record down to 9-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Appomattox County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 69-52 loss against Nelson County on the 4th. Altavista has also already played their next game, a 63-60 win against Rustburg on the 1st.
