Recap: Flanagan/Woodland Falcons vs. Fisher Bunnies
If the Flanagan/Woodland Falcons were riding high off their 63-39 takedown of the Earlville Red Raiders on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Flanagan/Woodland fell just short of Fisher by a score of 47-44. Flanagan/Woodland lost against Fisher in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 64-30 score last time.
Flanagan/Woodland's lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kora Edens, who scored 12 points along with 9 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubry Edens, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Fisher's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maylie Evans led the charge by scoring 11 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Melina Luyando was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with 3 steals.
Flanagan/Woodland bumped their record down to 3-7 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Fisher, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Flanagan/Woodland will look to defend their home court on Monday against El Paso-Gridley at 7:00 p.m. El Paso-Gridley is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. Fisher won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Blue Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on December 8th.
