Baseball Recap: Quincy Notre Dame Continues Road Dominance on Wednesday

Quincy Notre Dame barely beat Augusta Southeastern the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Raiders were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Suns on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Quincy Notre Dame got a great performance from Ty Meyer as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Those six strikeouts gave Meyer a new career-high.

At the plate, Abram Wiewel was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Quincy Notre Dame was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Augusta Southeastern only posted a batting average of .222.

Quincy Notre Dame's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-7. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games. As for Augusta Southeastern, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-11.

Coincidentally, Quincy Notre Dame and Augusta Southeastern will both be playing Hamilton/Warsaw the next time they take the field. The Raiders will head out to face the Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Suns will host them at 4:30 p.m. on the 16th.
