Seton Catholic extends home winning streak to eight

Recap: Seton Catholic Sentinels vs. St. Mary's Knights

The Seton Catholic Sentinels won the last time they faced the St. Mary's Knights, and things went their way on Monday too. Seton Catholic enjoyed a cozy 64-49 victory over St. Mary's. Given Seton Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while St. Mary's is ranked 121st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Seton Catholic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sophie Morales out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 assists. Morales has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caitlyn M Benally, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

St. Mary's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alondra Reyes, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Reyes has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. Maddie Brittain was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.

Seton Catholic's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.1 points per game. As for St. Mary's, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.
