Basketball Recap: Parkdale Comes Up Short

If Parkdale was riding high fresh off their 80-20 takedown of Crossland last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Parkdale Panthers were outmatched by the Flowers Jaguars and fell 65-30. The contest marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Parkdale's loss on Monday came despite strong showings from Hannah Youn and Zenai Ferebee. Youn posted eight points and 11 rebounds, while Ferebee scored ten points. Youn is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last three games she's played.

Flowers' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alana Joy, who went 10 of 20 on her way to 21 points in addition to eight steals and five assists. That's the most steals Joy has posted since back in December of 2023. Ava Redmond was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten assists.

Parkdale's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-2. As for Flowers, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.

Parkdale didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-40 victory against Laurel on the 28th. As for Flowers, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 74-35 win against Bladensburg on the 28th.
