Harlandale and Southwest Legacy are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2021, but likely not for long. The Harlandale Indians will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Southwest Legacy Titans at 7:00 p.m. Harlandale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Harlandale came up short against Winn and fell 9-5. The Indians have struggled against the Mavericks recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Sandra Valenzuela made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Eliana Rae DeLeon, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Southwest Legacy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 16-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of MacArthur. One positive for the Titans, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Amy Saul led a balanced group of hitters, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 4-for-5. Those home runs were her first of the season. Novalee Gloria was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Even though they lost, Southwest Legacy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .410. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Harlandale's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Southwest Legacy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Harlandale hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having got 0 of their hits per game. However, it's not like Southwest Legacy struggles in that department as they've got 0 of their hits this season. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Harlandale skirted past Southwest Legacy 18-17 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Harlandale repeat their success, or does Southwest Legacy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
