Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Lions vs. Rancho Cucamonga Cougars

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Liberty Lions face off against the Rancho Cucamonga Cougars at 12:30 p.m. on Monday... Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Liberty saw some tournament action on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 62-44 victory over Northeast. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked fifth in Arizona, while the Hurricanes are ranked 374th in Florida), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Stephan Miller was his usual excellent self, putting up 18 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Hunter, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 15 points.

Meanwhile, Rancho Cucamonga came up short against Prescott on Saturday and fell 83-75. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (60), the Cougars still had to take the loss.

Liberty's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Rancho Cucamonga, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.
