Baseball Recap: Midland Snags Tenth Win in Last 13 Games

Midland made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Heber Springs, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Panthers on Friday. Considering the Mustangs have won ten matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Cody Hart made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Brayden York and Gunner Buie did most of the damage at the plate: York scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Buie scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Buie has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Aaron Bozeman, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

Midland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Midland is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Heber Springs, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-12.

Looking ahead, Midland will venture away from home to face off against Bald Knob at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Heber Springs, they will host Batesville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
