Baseball Recap: Shalom Christian Academy Wins Going Away Against Calvary Christian Academy

Shalom Christian Academy was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Calvary Christian Academy on Thursday. Shalom Christian Academy put the hurt on Calvary Christian Academy with a sharp 12-0 win. The Flames haven't had any issues with Calvary Christian Academy recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Trey Wenger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Will Turner and Keaton Shands did most of the damage at the plate: Turner scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3, while Shands scored two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, Shands posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Carter Defenderfer, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one double.

Shalom Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calvary Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .111.

Shalom Christian Academy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Calvary Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Looking ahead, Shalom Christian Academy will look to defend their home field on Monday against Lancaster Mennonite at 2:45 p.m. As for Calvary Christian Academy, they will head out to face off against Cumberland Valley Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup will give Calvary Christian Academy their first taste of in-conference action this season.
