Recap: Alva Goldbugs vs. Jones Longhorns
After a string of four wins, the Alva Goldbugs's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Jones by a score of 53-51. Alva was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Jones apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Several Goldbugs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lakin Gaddy, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Carly Argo was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Alva's loss ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-2. As for Jones, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Alva won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Perry at 3:30 p.m. on January 6th. Jones won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Kingfisher at 7:00 p.m. on January 6th. Kingfisher will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
