Recap: Watkins Mill Wolverines vs. Poolesville Falcons
The Watkins Mill Wolverines lost against the Poolesville Falcons back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Watkins Mill was outmatched by Poolesville at home and fell 47-16. Watkins Mill has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Poolesville was led to victory by Hartke Carson and Breanna Salovich. Carson scored 13 points along with four steals, while Salovich scored 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Salovich continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sofelkanik Laney, who scored eight points.
Watkins Mill's loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-3. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.8 points per game. As for Poolesville, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Watkins Mill will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wootton at 7:15 p.m. on January 23, 2024. Poolesville will be home for the holidays to greet Damascus at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
