Softball Recap: Marion County Comes Up Short

Marion County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They lost 16-4 to the Taylor County Cardinals. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 21, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Marion County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kinley Craig, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Another was Bridgette Farris, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Marion County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Taylor County, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Marion County will challenge Campbellsville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.75 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Taylor County, they will face off against Adair County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
