Softball Recap: Beverly Hills Normans vs. Leuzinger Olympians
Beverly Hills extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-9 in the process. They lost 15-0 to the Leuzinger Olympians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Olympians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-2 back in March.
As for Leuzinger, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-5. The result was nothing new for the Olympians, who have now won nine matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
For Leuzinger's part, Victoria Gonzalez made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gonzalez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Olivia Cunanan was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Natalia Ochoa, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Beverly Hills wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 18-1 defeat against Lawndale on the 15th. As for Leuzinger, they will face off against Hawthorne at 5:15 p.m. on the 22nd. The Olympians are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
