Basketball Recap: McDonough Takes a Loss

McDonough easily dispatched Bard last Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The McDonough Rams fell just short of the North Point Eagles by a score of 48-45 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Rams have suffered since January 15th.

North Point's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jermaine Griffin, who went 8 of 17 en route to 22 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Griffin a new career-high in points. Russell Jackson was another key player, putting up eight points along with six boards and three steals.

With the loss, McDonough broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-7. As for North Point, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-10 record this season.

McDonough will be playing in front of their home fans against Lackey at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lackey will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something McDonough surely won't give up without a fight. As for North Point, they will venture away from home to challenge Huntingtown at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. North Point is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.6 points per game this season.
