Incline is 0-10 against Yerington since April of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Highlanders are taking a road trip to take on the Lions at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Incline's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on April 4th. They blew past North Tahoe 18-0. That looming 18-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Highlanders yet this season.
Meanwhile, Yerington came tearing into Saturday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Nighthawks as they made off with a 16-1 win. Considering the Lions have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Casey Bobrick was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Aubrey Conway and America Hernandez did most of the damage at the plate: Conway went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Hernandez went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Hernandez has posted since back in April of 2024. Yessenia Zarazua was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Yerington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .679. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Yerington's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Incline, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-8.
Incline might still be hurting after the 15-4 loss they got from Yerington in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Highlanders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
