Football Recap: Houston Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Houston extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They were dealt a 63-18 defeat at the hands of the New Hope Trojans. The Hilltoppers were not able to make up for their loss to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Despite the loss, Houston still got an impressive performance from Tychason Townsend, who picked up 78 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

As for New Hope, the victory got them back to even at 2-2. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Jacob Jefferson had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 227 yards and five scores while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 124 rushing yards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyrekus Brooks, who rushed for 172 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries.

Coming up, Houston will be playing at home against Amory at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Hilltoppers their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for New Hope, they will head out to challenge Saltillo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.6 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
