Two dominant guards in Grace Galyon and Alyssa Jessup are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Reagan Raiders will look to defend their home court on Friday against the East Forsyth Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Reagan sitting on three straight wins and East Forsyth on six.
Last Thursday, Reagan sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 57-54 victory over Mount Tabor. That's two games straight that the Raiders have won by exactly three points.
Reagan's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Galyon, who posted 17 points. Kayla George was another key player, putting up 17 points and three steals.
Meanwhile, East Forsyth earned a 51-43 victory over West Forsyth on Wednesday.
East Forsyth's win came from a few key players Reagan will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jessup, who went 6 for 11 on her way to 14 points and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Rajanae Bethea, who scored 13 points along with six assists and four steals.
East Forsyth has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points per game. As for Reagan, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Reagan has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 29.2 boards per game. However, it's not like East Forsyth struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Reagan beat East Forsyth 51-38 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Does Reagan have another victory up their sleeve, or will East Forsyth turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
