Soccer Game Preview: East Surry vs. Starmount

The East Surry Cardinals will head out to challenge the Starmount Rams at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

East Surry came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Wilkes Central, falling 3-0. The loss continues a trend for East Surry in their meetings with Wilkes Central: they've now lost seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Starmount was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 4-1 to South Stokes.

Having lost for the first time this season, East Surry fell to 7-1. As for Starmount, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Everything went East Surry's way against Starmount in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as East Surry made off with a 5-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Surry since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
