Football Recap: Pecos Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Pecos lost against Shallowater back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Eagles were beaten by the Mustangs 59-7. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 847th, while the Mustangs are ranked 389th).

Cooper Martin had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 299 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes, and also punching in one score on the ground for Shallowater. The dominant performance also gave Martin a new career-high in passer rating (165.2). Another passer making a difference was Logan Winn, who threw for 95 yards and a pair of TDs.

Pecos now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Shallowater, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Pecos and Shallowater will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Eagles see the field they'll take on Lake View at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. As for Shallowater, their break will end when they face Bushland at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th.
