Softball Recap: Pender Wins Going Away Against Hobbton

While Pender put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Hobbton. Pender put the hurt on Hobbton with a sharp 15-0 victory. The match marked the Patriots' most dominant win of the season so far.

Alyna Rooks made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Katie Iddings was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jayda Tozour, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Pender always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hobbton only posted an OBP of .250.

Pender is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Hobbton dropped their record down to 2-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Pender will welcome East Bladen at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pender's pitchers better be ready for this one: East Bladen has averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Hobbton, they will head out to challenge Lakewood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakewood has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.5 runs per game on average), something Hobbton will no doubt try to take advantage of.
