Recap: Munroe Bobcats vs. L.E.A.D. Academy Lions
With a playoff game on the line, the Munroe Bobcats rose to the challenge on Friday. They managed a 48-42 win over the Lions. Winning may never get old, but Munroe sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Munroe found their leader in underclassman Aj Johnson, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Mccullar, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sophia Harold, who scored 16 points along with three steals. Harold is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Kamryn Lay was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, L.E.A.D. Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Munroe only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Munroe has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-15 record this season. As for L.E.A.D. Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 14-6.
Munroe will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against North Florida Educational Institute at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. North Florida Educational Institute knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Munroe likes a good challenge. L.E.A.D. Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
