Football Recap: Destin Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Destin extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-4. They were dealt a 48-19 loss at the hands of the Opp Bobcats. While losing is never fun, the Sharks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 457th in Florida, while the Bobcats are ranked 129th in Alabama).

When it comes to explaining why Destin lost, don't look at Junior Harris. Despite the final result, he rushed for 262 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 13.8 yards per carry. Harris is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season.

As for Opp, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 24 points or more this season.

Opp got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Peyton Campbell out in front who rushed for 64 yards and two scores. That's the most rushing touchdowns Campbell has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Talan Wicker, who threw for 133 yards and one touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes.

Looking ahead, Destin will challenge Pensacola Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Harris and Ethan Crandall. As for Opp, they will take on Dale County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' defense has only allowed 14.6 points per game this season, so the Bobcats' offense will have their work cut out for them.
