Somerset took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Madison Southern, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Somerset sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over Madison Southern on Saturday. While the Briar Jumpers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-23), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Somerset's victory ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 6-3. As for Madison Southern, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Looking ahead, Somerset will head out on the road to take on Glasgow at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Madison Southern, they will be playing at home against West Jessamine at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
