Recap: Wheatmore Warriors vs. South Davidson Wildcats
The Wheatmore Warriors were the 53-40 winner over the South Davidson Wildcats when they last played one another back in December of 2016, but their luck changed this time around. Wheatmore was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 50-49 to South Davidson. Wheatmore just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Parker Kines, who scored 19 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals. The match was Kines' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Stepp, who scored 12 points along with 5 steals.
South Davidson was led to victory by Tanner Delattre and Tanner Walters. Delattre scored 22 points, while Walters scored 8 points along with 6 assists and 6 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Peyton Davis, who scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds.
Wheatmore bumped their record down to 1-3 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for South Davidson, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 1-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheatmore will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Ledford at 7:30 p.m. on December 4th. Ledford is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for South Davidson, they will head out on the road to face off against Southwestern Randolph at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwestern Randolph comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
