Softball Recap: Northridge Takes a Loss

Northridge extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 5-11 in the process. They came up short against the Viewmont Vikings, falling 10-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Braylynn McClellan and Berklee Larsen stepped up to the plate in a big way. McClellan went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Larsen went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

As for Viewmont, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-10. Considering they have won six games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Viewmont's side, London Dickerson made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Dickerson was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Marlee Moser, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ricki Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Northridge will welcome Logan at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Viewmont, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-6 win against Bonneville on the 24th.
