Baseball Recap: Rock Canyon Comes Up Short

Rock Canyon extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 7-9 in the process. They lost 11-0 to the Fossil Ridge SaberCats. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Jaguars were not able to get on the board.

As for Fossil Ridge, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

For Fossil Ridge's part, Brek Benedict looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Benedict has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brady Bradford was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Griffin, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double.

Looking ahead, Rock Canyon will take on Castle View at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Fossil Ridge, they will challenge Roosevelt at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
