Baseball Recap: Hoisington Triumphs

Hoisington came out on top against Hillsboro on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Cardinals took their matchup against the Trojans 10-7. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Rhen Galla made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Hoisington is 6-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-5 otherwise. Galla was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Hoisington got a massive performance out of Marcus Ingram, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave Ingram a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lane French, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Hoisington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Hoisington's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Hillsboro, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hoisington will welcome Halstead at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hillsboro, they will host Marion at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
