Preview: Todd County Falcons vs. Pine Ridge Thorpes
Todd County is 8-2 against Pine Ridge since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Todd County Falcons will be staying on the road to face off against the Pine Ridge Thorpes at 5:15 p.m. on January 25th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Monday, Todd County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 59-53 to Cheyenne-Eagle Butte.
Meanwhile, Pine Ridge's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Red Cloud 66-23. While losing is never fun, Pine Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Red Cloud is ranked tenth).
Todd County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Pine Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
Everything came up roses for Todd County against Pine Ridge in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 66-37 victory. Will Todd County repeat their success, or does Pine Ridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
