Recap: Fort Calhoun Pioneers vs. Mead Raiders
The Fort Calhoun Pioneers's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They walked away with a 59-47 victory over Mead.
Fort Calhoun got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Grayson Bouwman out in front who scored 22 points along with four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Bouwman has scored at least a third of Fort Calhoun's points. Colby Bentley was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Fort Calhoun is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Mead, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Calhoun the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Arlington at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Hopefully Arlington focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Tuesday. Mead won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lyons-Decatur Northeast at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Lyons-Decatur Northeast is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
