Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Staunton). They put the hurt on the Carlinville Cavaliers with a sharp 18-4 win on Thursday. The Bulldogs have beaten the Cavaliers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Cavaliers has come to flipping the script.

Ethan Sharp was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Staunton: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 11-12-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Lucas Coalson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Staunton pushed their record up to 14-12-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Carlinville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 14 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Staunton will challenge Carrollton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Carlinville, they will square off against Greenfield/Northwestern at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
