            Football Recap: Burkeville Mustangs vs. Brazosport Christian Eagles        
        
		
        
        
            
The Burkeville Mustangs took a  blow against the Brazosport Christian Eagles on Friday, falling  52-6. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 149th, while the Eagles are ranked 46th).
 Marlon Jackson threw for 56 yards and one  touchdown on only five passes.   Preston Gregory was his top target, picking up 34 receiving yards and one  TD.
 It was another big night for  David Kier, who threw for 120 yards and three  touchdowns on only 11 passes, and also rushed for 34 yards for Brazosport Christian. Kier's passing game has become a key predictor of the Eagles' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-3 otherwise.  James Moore was in the mix  as well, providing Brazosport Christian with one score.
Burkeville now  has a losing record of 3-4. As for Brazosport Christian, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record  this season.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Burkeville will challenge High Island at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. This will  be the Mustangs' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Brazosport Christian, they will take on Baytown Christian at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. The Eagles will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 39.5  points per  game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
