Basketball Recap: Mahpiya Luta Wins High-Profile Contest Against Wall

On Saturday, Mahpiya Luta faced Wall in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Mahpiya Luta Crusaders slipped by the Wall Eagles 56-55. The Crusaders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Despite the defeat, Wall saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Teelan Kjerstad posted 30 points and three steals. Those 30 points gave Kjerstad a new career-high. Emmet Dinger was another key player, putting up 14 points and five rebounds.

Mahpiya Luta's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Wall, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Mahpiya Luta wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 69-46 win against Little Wound on the 31st. As for Wall, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-45 victory against McCook Central/Montrose on the 31st.
