Football Recap: Ramona Finds Playoff Glory Versus Silverado

Ramona had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against the Silverado Hawks by a score of 21-14 on Friday. Those 21 points were actually the fewest the Rams have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Ramona's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lorenzo Sims, who rushed for 82 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 71 receiving yards and one TD. Michael White was another key player, picking up 82 receiving yards and one score.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Ramona proved: they limited Silverado to a paltry 2.7 yards per carry. The team can thank Moises Mendoza for the heroic effort on defense: he. Ramona's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.5.

Ramona's defense didn't let Johnny Diaz, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Luis Mena IV was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up 2.5 himself. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last 14 games he's played dating back to last season. Another thorn in Silverado's side was Mendoza, who picked up 0.5 sacks and made 16 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

The win was the third in a row for Ramona, bringing their record up to 9-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.0 points on average over those games. As for Silverado, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Coming up, Ramona will welcome Cerritos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Rams 13.9, the Dons 14.7) so any points scored will be well earned. Silverado does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
